Data Packs

Information and FAQs on our available data packs

About Our Data Packs

What are Data Packs?

Data Packs are optional blocks of data that can be included into your reports if you choose.

We're introducing these Data Packs as a means for allowing you to produce reports that can flex based on the information that is relevant for your specific scenario. They also allow you to control your costs. If you don't need the information, simply don't include it and we won't charge you for it.

More Data Packs will be introduced over time but we'll let you know as new one's get launched.

How do I include or exclude a Data Pack?

It's pretty simple, prior to you generating a report we'll present you with a list of the Data Packs that are available for the report. Simple check the box next to the one(s) you want to include and we'll do the rest. The data, if it can be found, will be included within the report.

What if I want the information but forgot to include the Data Pack?

At this stage you'll need to re-run the report.

Listing History & Price Changes

Ever wondered how much a vehicle has sold for in the past? Or if it’s listed across multiple sites in New Zealand? Maybe even if the vehicle has been historically reduced in price? Well, the new Listing History in the MotorWeb VIR can provide just that!

Here's a glimpse of what you can expect from this new data set:

  • Event Date: The date a listing was started, changed or ended.

  • Marketplace: Which marketplace was advertising the vehicle; Trade Me, Facebook, Marketplace or AutoTrader

  • Seller type: We’ll tell you whether it was a dealer or private seller

  • Event Type:

    • Listed = started the listing

    • Delisted = listing ended (whether manually removed or the listing ran it course and automatically closed)

  • Price Drop: The asking price was changed

  • Price: The price at time of listing

  • Odometer: Current odometer reading at time of listing

What reports is this Data Pack available in?

The listing History & Price Changes Data Pack is available in:

  • VIR

  • Market Valuation

How reliable is the listing history information?

MotorWeb matches the listing history against the vehicle VIN (not plate) so we’re pretty confident. We will provide listing history if we have it but there are circumstances where a vehicle will have been sold and the listing history is not available.

Will I get charged if you can't find any listing history?

No.

How far back does the listing history go?

We have listing data back to November 2020.

Does “Delisted” mean the vehicle was sold?

Our analysis shows that in most cases, when a vehicle has been delisted it has been sold. There are times a vehicle is delisted as it has run its course online and the listing has automatically closed prior to being sold.

Is the vehicle price when "delisted" likely to be what the vehicle was sold for?

No, it is simply the asking price at the time.

What if the vehicle is never "delisted" but then “listed” again a month later?

The vehicle was automatically delisted from TradeMe following the month it was listed for. It wasn’t manually delisted by the seller and just ran the listing course (potentially not sold).

Can you provide details around past listings such as photos and seller details?

We are working on providing photos from past listings but are unable to provide seller details.

Price Changes (Listing History Report)

The Price Changes Data Pack is an addition to the stand-alone Listing History report (it's already included in the above data pack). So in other words, if you only want the listing history and aren't interested in the price changes across the listings, then you don't need to have it.

Again this is our way of helping you to flex your reports to show the information you want and to manage your costs.

By adding the Price Changes data pack to the listing history report, you can see how much the price has changed over time. Additionaly if the listing is recent, you will have insights into what the seller's price changes have been - ideal for negotiating a Trade In!

Can I get this Data Pack as a separate report?

No, this Data Pack is only available with the Listing History stand-alone report available in the MotorWeb Portal or via API.
