Vehicle Information Report (VIR)
The Vehicle Information Report is MotorWeb’s most extensive report and provides comprehensive information on vehicle specifications, NZTA registration, CoF, WoF and RUC aspects, vehicle owners, financial interests, odometer history, valuations, listing history and associated alerts.
It is critical that developers refer to the XSD for this product as the elements returned in and API call are extensive:

It should be noted that customers must have S241 access granted by NZTA in order to access vehicle ownership information. MotorWeb utilises information from NZTA to determine if access has been granted.
The specificReason API parameter is also required. This details the reason for accessing the information. This reason is text supplied by the customer however should conform with the specific reasons specified in their gazette notice.
This report is available via the MotorWeb Portal and via API and is presented in a variety of sections.
Alerts and Information
This summary section will show anything that we believe is of concern or needs checking about the vehicle. We will also show some summary information for areas that are generally important to know.
Financial Securities
The Financial Securities section will detail any Financial Interest over the vehicle (money owing).
Please note that we seek to be as thorough as we can and will search the PPSR based on the VIN, Chassis and Plate (historical and current). This can occassionally result in some false positives, so please review this section carefully
Vehicle History
The Vehicle History section will show historical events such as changes of ownership, odometer history and listing history (when and where the vehicle was listed online for sale).
Please note that you will only be able to see Private Owner information for the current owner (businesses will be shown) if your S241 access allows it.
Our Odometer History section will show information from NZTA which is recorded at time WoF, CoF etc.
We will also alert you to any odometer anomalies (wound back etc).
Our final section is Listing History which will detail when and where the vehicle was listed online for sale, the seller type (Dealer, Private) and whether the price changed over time.

The registration and licence section shows vehicle compliance information such as

Market Valuation
The market valuation section provides Trade Me and MotorWeb's real time valuation for the vehicle. This valuation is based on our access to extensive listing and sales information and the use of Innovative machine learning.
Here we offer both the retail and wholesale valuations along with the upper and lower bounds.
