### Overview of VehicleID

Vehicle ID, a service by MotorWeb Australia, serves as a crucial gateway to the National Exchange of Vehicle and Driver Information System (NEVDIS) database for accessing real-time, reliable vehicle information for all registered vehicles in Australia 

As the largest broker of the NEVDIS database, VehicleID provides a comprehensive suite of data services tailored for various industries 

NEVDIS is a national database managed by AustRoads, which aggregates information on all registered vehicles from each Australian state and territory 

The primary function of the VehicleID service is to allow businesses to programmatically identify and verify vehicle details by using a registration plate and state, a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), or a chassis number 

It is part of a broader suite of MotorWeb API products and provides access to the menu of individual NEVDIS records

### Core Features and Data Offerings

The VehicleID service provides access to a wide array of data points sourced from NEVDIS, empowering businesses with the insights needed for their operations 

The data is returned in a modular format, allowing customers to request specific information "products" in a single API call 

#### Available Data Products

Customers can request specific data modules by including one or more product parameters in an API call 

 . The following products are available:

* `EXTENDED_DATA`: Provides a detailed set of vehicle specifications including make, model, color, body type, and engine number .
* `VEHICLE_AGE`: Returns the vehicle's year of manufacture and its compliance plate date 
* `REGISTRATION_STATUS`: Provides the vehicle's current registration status (e.g., "REGISTERED") and expiry date 
* `PLATE_TYPE`: Describes the type of license plate, such as "Standard" 
* `WRITTEN_OFF_INFO`: Returns detailed data from the National Written-Off Vehicle Register (WOVR) on whether the vehicle has been recorded as a write-off, including incident dates, jurisdictions, and damage details 
* `STOLEN_INFO`: Returns data from NEVDIS on whether the vehicle is currently reported as stolen 
* Other Products: Additional product scopes such as high\_performance, are also available for request 

#### Key Data Sources

The service delivers extensive data sourced from NEVDIS 

*  This allows for a comprehensive vehicle profile, including:
  * Vehicle Identification: VIN, Chassis Number, Registration Plate Number, and State 
  * Vehicle Specifications: Make, Model, Series, Body Style, Colour, and Engine Number 
  * Registration Information: Status and Expiry Date 
  * Vehicle History: Written-Off Vehicle Register (WOVR) and Stolen Vehicle status
